January 1998
The following unsolicited comments are a true account of the service
I received from RWH throughout the duration of my dealings with
them from September 1997 to December 1997.
In September 1997 I was in a position in which I required a job
offer in order to obtain an H1-B visa for the purpose of relocating
from South Africa to United States. In my field of Optical Engineering
the work is fairly specialised and job openings are few. Initially
I took the route of responding to openings advertised on the OSA
and SPIE websites, but received no responses due, I believe, to
the fact that I was not a resident in the U.S. at the time. It was
then that I decided to employ the services of RWH - initially to
perform an evaluation of my chances for success, and thereafter
to proceed with the Full Job Search Program. At no time did the
fact that RWH is based in Canada in any way hinder their ability
to perform a job search for me in the United States. I'd previously
investigated several US-based placement agencies and had found that
RWH offered by far the best value for money.
One of the most striking features of dealing with RWH is the obvious
importance which they place on communication with the client. In
my case I elected to communicate almost entirely using E-mail and
fares , and found this to be most satisfactory. Before I had actually
contracted RWH to proceed with the Full Job Search Program, I had
a number of queries which I wanted answering, and to this end I
fired of volleys of E-mail missives to RWH, each of which was promptly
replied to by the following day. This level of communication continued
throughout my dealings with them.
At the end of November I made a trip to Boston to attend a number
of interviews which RWH had scheduled with optics companies in the
area. They prepared me with useful interview strategy tips beforehand,
and telephoned me after every interview to find out how it had gone
and to make suggestions about what I might do differently in the
next one. Their advice regarding the correct response to the questions
of remuneration and visas was particularly helpful.
In the end I accepted an offer for exactly the type of job that
I was looking for. I can say without doubt that I would not have
found this job without the services of RWH. During the time that
I was conducting my own job search from South Africa it became abundantly
clear to me that when one is in the position of looking for work
in the US without already having the requisite visa it is essential
have a professional representative acting on your behalf. This person
is able to personally telephone the decision-makers in the targeted
companies and to put your case to them in a manner which has the
best chance of overcoming any resistance which they might have to
considering a foreign candidate. In this role I can unreservedly
recommend the services of Robert W Hort and Associates. They are
professional, effective , and have integrity.
