The things that go through your mind when you do business with
someone on the other side of the earth without having seen him/her!
Hey, I've willingly given this guy a wad of my hard earned cash
without having gotten anything in return. Is he for real? Are his
assurances that he achieves about 80% success rate true? What if
I get to Toronto and he has done nothing for me? Does he know I
have placed my whole family and career future in his hands?
I could go on but these were some of the doubts my wife and I had
while on the plane from South Africa to Toronto. We had decided
to emigrate and were relying on Robert to set up interviews for
us over a two week period while in Canada. Having seen his advert
in 'The Sunday Times' we contacted him. He was helpful with information.
His fee, though reasonable, seemed steep for a deliverable far in
the future. We gave him the go-ahead and as the plane touched down
all we had was assurance from our regular telephone contact with
Robert that everything would be okay.
He met us one day after our arrival with a list of + 100 well targeted
contacts he had made for interviews on my behalf and with an organised
schedule of interviews (morning and afternoon) for the first week
and first few days of the second week(eleven in total), leaving
the majority of the second week for 2nd and 3rd interviews if necessary.
After reading the information Robert had gathered about each company,
I was happy since they mostly fitted my career aspirations as explained
to him over the phone. I was impressed. My wife, who is a better
judge of character than I (and an extreme sceptic to boot) sang
his praises perhaps more out of relief than anything else!
After each day's interviews, Robert would follow up on how things
went. He provided well directed advice on how to handle the interviews
but what became evident is that some of the interviewers had made
up their mind to hire me based only on my C.V. which Robert had
helped to Canadianise.
At the end of the two weeks, I left with three written offers (a
fourth one followed two weeks later) and our minds made up that
we would settle in Canada as soon as possible.
Robert Hort played a major role in ensuring that our relocation
would be as smooth as possible from the most important career point
of view, providing a personal, well researched, focused and professional
service which I will certainly recommend to any aspirant immigrant
to Canada and the U.S.A. He can be trusted.
